OUR PRIVATE PLAYGROUND
WE’VE FOUND A HOME
THIRTEEN YEARS AGO, WE NESTLED UNDER THE
RAFTERS IN THE DRAFTY ATTIC OF AN OLD BUILDING IN
CENTRAL COPENHAGEN. IT’S BEEN QUITE A
JOURNEY GETTING WHERE WE ARE NOW – TO OUR OWN
PLAYGROUND. OPEN MINDS AND A NEVER-ENDING WILL
TO DEVELOP BROUGHT US HERE, WHERE WE CAN PLAY
FREELY AND CREATE THE ORIGINALS OF TOMORROW.
WE’VE BEEN ON A CONSTANT JOURNEY for 12 years, and it will never stop. Being curious about the unknown and exploring every corner of the world will always be a part of our DNA.
We also understand the importance of having a home – a place to group our forces and try new things to level up our work. So, when we walked into a 250-year-old warehouse built beside the Danish royal naval base, we suddenly realized: this isn’t just a place with a history – this is our new home. The sign on our glass doors says it all. This is not a shop. It’s not an office – nor a showroom. It’s a playground.
“We were filled with passion when we launched NN07. We dreamed of being something no one else was – and we had no interest in doing things the way other brands did,” said Victor Lindh, co-founder of NN07. “Thirteen years later, we still have that passion. And one of the main reasons is that we never stop experimenting. We never stop playing because working is playing. And this is our playground.”
In 2007, Victor and Ulrik, another co-founder, were sitting in a small apartment in Copenhagen that simultaneously functioned as an office and warehouse. The place was so full of stuff that Victor had to work in the kitchen, because it was the only space that had fresh air.
NN07’s new home is something completely different. This 1000-square-meter facility houses everything from the product development department to showrooms. “Going to work should be fun – even more so if you spend your days in inspiring surroundings. We spent a lot of money and energy on making this the perfect workplace. Its ambiance and character are reminders to always stay on top and always perform well,” said Andreas Herring, NN07 head of marketing.
“The first thing visitors notice is the exceptional interior as they enter our office. It’s luxurious – yet unassuming – a fusion between Japanese and Scandinavian design. The history of the facility is preserved, and the wooden ceiling beams are the same as they were for the last 250 years. This is combined with modern materials. We used a well-balanced mix between wood, stone, metal, and glass – to achieve the right atmosphere.
“Visitors also see our dedication to details. Almost every piece of furniture is custom made by Danish cabinet makers, and we have thought about every little detail in every part of the office. We’re using smoked oak in many of the rooms. The degree to which the oak is smoked depends on the room and the kind of atmosphere we want to create there. We’ve imported industrial brass wheels from Germany – just to get the right touch on the onsite-built wardrobe in our showroom, where we display trousers and knitwear from upcoming collections.”
“The idea behind NN07 was born in Tokyo,” said Lindh. We were inspired by how proud their artisans went about their work. And it’s the same thing for us. We’re incredibly proud of what we do, and we put a lot of hard work into our clothes to make them as good as possible.
“I love how this place reflects our passion. We thought through every detail in the entire facility. In a way, it’s logical. We just practice what we preach.”
