TRANSPARENCY

A transparent supply chain is crucial to identifying environmental consequences and our overall footprint. This means examining complex aspects of our production, such as water consumption or how chemicals are disposed of in our factories. Once we have a deeper understanding of each step in our supply chain, we can evaluate processes that conflict with our values and goals.
We view our suppliers as collaborators and work very closely with them everyday to make the best possible product. In many cases, their expertise in a specifc area can feed our creativity and lead to developing a more sustainable, high-quality product.

We believe clothes are meant to be well worn and are not fans of thoughtless consumption. Since we want to optimize our resources, sustainability begins with designing high-quality products with longevity in mind. We are always delighted to hear that our clothing is donated or passed on to friends and family.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

The choice of material has a huge impact on a garments footprint. According to Global Fashion Agenda material choice can “determine up to half of a fashion brand’s environmental footprint”. There are advantages and disadvantages to almost every fibre, depending on conditions and regulations, that be natural fibres or oil-based. For example natural plant fibres, such as cotton are often considered a superior choice due to their renewable and biodegradable qualities. However, conventional cotton production relies on a lot more water than polyester and other synthetics. With that said synthetics like polyester use far more CO2 and have a larger overall footprint.
Our core value is to make clothing that can stand the test of time, dictated by quality, not trend and believe that this should never be at the expense of people, animals or the environment.

When putting together our Sustainable Material Mix we identifed and evaluated the environmental and social impact of fibres used. We’ve determined alternatives that cover one or more of the following requirements:

  • Better for the planet*
  • Better for people*
  • Better for animals*

*Compared to the conventional fibres

BETTER COTTON INITIATIVE

We NN07 are a proud Member of The Better Cotton Initiative. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in, and better for the sector’s future by developing Better Cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity.

As a member of BCI our aim is to help:

  • Reduce the environmental impact of cotton production
  • Improve livelihoods and economic development in cotton producing areas
  • Improve commitment to and flow of Better Cotton throughout supply chain
  • Ensure the credibility and sustainability of the Better Cotton Initiative

In 2019 our goal is to source 28% of our cotton as Better Cotton.
